Body Art - Practice Piece

I decided to try one of my designs on my model's back to see if I should change anything like, using different brushes or sizing the design down. After that, I realised that I also need to work with my model more to make sure the drawing looks good, but also she does. we tried different poses and as shown below, some were not good. I am glad I tried it as it showed me that working with a human body as a canvas is more difficult than I expected. I did this design:

Now I know that I need to change some elements:

- Start drawing from the left side, as when I drew the right side and moved to the other one, my hand started smudging everything

- I need a set of clean, small brushes, to make the lines sharper

- My model needs to be standing while taking the photo, and arms above the head are a good choice for the pose

- I need to size the drawing down and use something square (like a piece of paper) as a guide for the red lines around the fish

- The light makes a big difference

Here are the photos I took, they were taken inside the living room so the background is not great, however, I focused on photographing the design:

Disclaimer: The sign on the right side is a real tattoo, I did not paint that.

  1. In terms of the transfer of the image onto your model, what about using a Grid based on a printed image, that is made to the size of your 'canvas'? I think you might have to use white or a lighter colour behind the image too to make it stand out a bit more, otherwise it might look like a drawing on someone's back and nothing else! Also have you tho9ught about applying it on different parts of the body? The face, the arm, meaning different sizes for your outcome?
