In high school, I have researched lyric videos, music videos, their origins and purpose. I was looking at different websites about music and singers to find answers to my questions:

- What was the first lyric video

- Why lyric/music videos are made?

I started by looking at different lyric videos and how they are made. The simplest version is just a text on some background, it can be one colour, images or music video. The more complicated ones are animated and connect to lyrics in a visual way. Then I started searching for the first lyric video. There is not a clear answer to that, but we have a few options:

- R.E.M "Fall on me" (1986) - lyrics on a black screen

- George Michael "Praying for Time" (1990) - the only version of this song (still just a text on a black background)

- CeeLo Green "Fuck You" (2010) - Lyrics animated to "jump" on screen - it was made before they could release an official music video, it made fans go crazy and were a great advertisement for the song and an artist 

Lyric videos were made as a part of the promotion of the new songs, but slowly fans just started to make them for karaoke and fun. 

I understood that lyric videos are relatively new and they had more of a promotional purpose. They were changing through the years so that some of them now can be almost like a piece of art. 

Research into my Major Project 

I will research about styles of different artist I chose as well as the times I would like to show via my outfits. 

What are the characteristics of the fanbase of these artists, what are the main elements I need to include

I will research some aesthetic for the clothing so that besides being compatible with my idea it would also fit the style of young adults that would be wearing them.

I will draw my ideas and element I want to include. I will take photos of my models and make an editorial/catalogue

What are the main aspects of Punk culture?

What would wear a Queen/Madonna/The Cure/Guns n Roses/Spice girls/Amy Winehouse fan?

 That is just an outline of my research, things I would like to more in-depth into.
