Advertisement - Research

In this week's lectures, we were talking about advertisements and how big of a role they have in selling our products. To prepare myself before making my own ad I decided to do some research and find interesting campaigns which could be my inspiration. I found a couple of fun posters and artists that made a few of them, so that is what I would like to show you in this post.

I love when we do something with purpose, not only to sell the product but change peoples way of thinking about life. That is what I like about these posters, they are meaningful. We all should fight about what is right so that everyone has a chance to live in a loving and supportive world.

L'Oréal is one of the most recognisable firms in the makeup industry. They are known for their amazing quality of products, but also showing to the world, how powerful makeup can make you feel. They are also fighting for equality of everyone so that we all can feel included. Their campaign "This is an ad for men" that was made in collaboration with McCann Worldgroup Deutschland not only shows lipsticks but also how important women leaders are in the businesses and why there should be more females on high positions such as CEOs, for example, in Australia, there are only 14 women as bosses in 200 top listed companies. I also really like the layout of the ad and how clean and elegant it is.

This is part of the #BlackLivesMatter movement that started in the first half of 2020. Nike, as well as many others, showed their support and respect towards black people that are facing a lot of difficulties just because of the colour of their skin. Nike in the ad showed above used their cult slogan "Just do it" and changed it for "For once, Don't Do it.". It is a very powerful message to everyone that hates other races. Nike, Jordan and Converse decided to give 40 million dollars in the period of 4 years as a support for the Black community and working towards equality and education.

The last ad that made a big impact on me is the campaign against killing animals in the name of science. They showed Noah Cyrus, a singer, as a dissected human, because we are all just like animals, but yet we use other living creatures with no ability to say "No". There is a lot of people that willingly want to leave their bodies to science, so there is no need to use animals. I think this poster is amazing because it leaves viewers shock so maybe they will think next time they would like to cut open a frog, rat, or anything else.

After looking at all of these works I know I would like to make something that makes people think and hopefully will change the world for the better.

  1. There is good commentary here and you have the source of the images but you need actual research on the adverts and referencing at the bottom - you say they are good and have impact so prove this with evidence as to whether these ads made a difference - you need more than your opinion you do need references here and critical commentary. I would also point out that Nike are an expensive sport shoe and those in poverty, particularly in America are more likely to be Black and probably do not even have the means to buy these shoes ...Here is an alternative study about dissection and the classroom https://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.894.8097&rep=rep1&type=pdf again it is worth looking further into the subject and showing more depth in your research
