Born: 11 October 1942, Japan

Biography: Rei Kawakubo, a founder of Comme des Garcons (1973) and Dover Street Market (2004). Her projects always came from her heart and love for fashion itself as she never studied this subject (she took an Art and Literature course at Keio University). Being a director of one of the most recognizable companies made Kawakubo globally famous and led to her clothes being worn by celebrities such as Kanye West, Rihanna or Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea.

Relation to my work: I love the unconventional connection of the colour in her work, the unique style of each piece is what makes it so special. It is made for people who like to be seen and want to express themselves. The details on the coats are what I would like to work on while making my yukata-hoodie.
