Creating Website - Part 1

At this week's lectures, we started making our websites. We were using wix.com and I found it very intuitive and fun to use. After choosing the desired template for my site, I started editing it.

Firstly, I changed my menu font and style. I chose a simple design in black as my main idea for this website was to make it clean, and modern.

Then, I put my name at the top, as well as what is my 'profession'. The pictures above show which fonts I used, their sizes and all of the settings.

To show that I made this website, I added copyright at the bottom of the, it will be there on every page (home, about, portfolio, contact). I still focused on making it look minimalistic so it will go well with other elements.

Then, to finish my home page, I added a photo of my work, I will change it in the future, but it looks good for now. To do it, I had to click a button '+' - add

Next, I chose 'images' and uploaded my own photos.

As you can see, there are more photos, I will be using them later.

Next step was to make my 'About' page. I changed every font to match the ones I already used to keep consistency. I wanted to choose a photo that will show my artistic side and my style. I think it looks good and professional. I put a short introduction about who I am, to let potential clients know a little bit about me.

Next page was 'Contact', which is used to help my clients reach me. It looked good already, but I added a photo on the left, using the same method as on the home page.

To make it functional I had to put my e-mail address in the settings. First I clicked on 'form settings', then 'settings', 'email notification' and my email was at the bottom which means it was connected to my account and all of the messages would go to my mailbox.

When all of that was done, I checked if the layout for the mobile phones looks good and if Ii should change something. I was happy with the results, so I left it as it was.

I am happy with the results and cannot wait to edit see what are other tools on the WIX

  1. This is a good start - there is some technical detail but you could have added more and you could have discussed your design decisions in more detail
